Using Your Picasa Album On Your Website

Picasa has become one of the largest and most popular online photo album websites available. Many of the same users that have photos housed on Picasa more than likely have a website that they could easily use these photos on. Why would you want to upload photos to Picasa and then turn around and go through the exact same process with your website? The easiest and most logical way to do this would be to let Picasa do the work! Simply house your photos on Picasa and have the website reference those albums. The brilliant minds here at Wisnet have figured out a way to make this possible. Follow along below to have your Picasa albums show up on your website!

*You will want to complete the following steps in Internet Explorer if at all possible.

Step 1: Login to Picasa

Go to http://picasaweb.google.com and sign in with your Google account. It’s important to remember that if you have Gmail you can use that login and password to access Picasa. If you aren’t already familiar with how to use Picasa there is a fantastic article previously written right here.

Step 2: Organization

You will want to make sure that you have your Picasa albums organized in the same fashion that you want the pictures to show up on your website. The logic can go to Picasa and select the pictures but it can’t determine which order to show them in! Navigate to the album that you are going to reference and prep it so it’s ready to be imported. Keep the gallery open when you complete this step.

Step 3: RSS

This is where you will benefit from using Internet Explorer (you did do that right?). Internet Explorer loads RSS feeds differently from other browsers and, as you can tell by the title of this step, this is precisely what we’ll be doing here. When you’re in the album that you want to import you should see an ‘RSS’ link in the right column.

Step 4: Obtain Link

After you click on that link you should be directed to a page with a yellow bar across the top and a ‘summary’ of the photos running down the page.

Step 5: Easy Site Editor

The link in the previous step that you copied is the link that you will need to copy and paste into the PicasaURL field that we supplied you with in Easy Site Editor. As soon as you have the link in the table and click save your photos should show up!
