Pinterest- In it to “Pin It”

After hearing that Pinterest has passed YouTube, Reddit, Google+, LinkedIn, and MySpace combined in terms of total referral traffic, I had to see what all the buzz was about. After signing up only a few weeks ago, I can say I’m officially addicted to the latest trend!

Pinterest allows you to pin and post content, allowing you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People are using this tool to visually inspire and share interests. Uses go from decorating homes, to finding and sharing new recipes, to sharing info from blogs. Think of it as a virtual pinboard.

At Pinterest I was able to search by category or use the search box, then browse the new pins being posted. I can share my boards with other users and their friends. I can also share the pins on Facebook.

A pin is an image added to Pinterest. It can be added from a website using the ‘Pin It’ button or uploaded from images on your computer. You can select which board you want to place the pin on and add a caption describing what it is.

One of the easiest things to do on Pinterest is to ‘re-pin’. While browsing different catagories that I’ve liked, I’ve repinned 36 pins by other people. All pins will take me to the original website where it came from.

A board is a set of unlimited pins on any topic. Currently I have boards such as “Things I love…” “Home Ideas” “Recipes” and “Bucket List”.

So everything that I have that I’d like to do on my bucket list I have pinned under my “Bucket List” board. This allows me to visually see Rock ‘Language Troll’, Norway (which leaves me breathless and gives me butterflies in the stomach when looking at it!)

Now that I’ve piqued your interest, head on over to www.pinterest.com. Start pinning your interests and sharing with the world of Pinterest! Our next few articles about Pinterest will include setting up your profile, benefits to using Pinterest as a business, and adding the ‘Pin It’ button.
